Bitten by a Radioactive Spider, Roberto Gonzalez had to learn very early... With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility. In Providence, Roberto uses his extra-ordinary powers to empower the youth. Roberto founded STEAM Box, where the youth are the boss. He develops STEAM programs based entirely on their interests. Their victories have reached outer space, ridden self-made hover-boards, AI, developed apps, time machines, videos, hackathons, websites and virtual reality, and kept their school open in the face of doom. All this, and he smells like peaches.
In their first 3 months at Alvarez HS STEAM Box won the Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Challenge and Lipsky Whitaker Award for their work with LGBTQ youth. Since then, they have won the PBS Digital Innovator, hold the #1 podcast in education worldwide, won the Apple Distinguished Educator Award, won the Tech 10 Award, won the Google Digital Innovator Award and so many more. Most recently they won 1st place in the Henry Ford National Teacher Innovator Award, and the Metcalf Community Justice Award.
